The Hot Ductility, Microstructures, Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Resistance in an Advanced Boron-Containing Complex Phase Steel Heat-Treated Using the Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) Process

The objective of this research work is to obtain the hot ductility behavior, and structural, microstructural mechanical characteristics one latest generation AHSS steels, a complex phase (CP) steel microalloyed with boron (0.006 wt.%), processed by cold rolling operations heat-treated using two different quenching partitioning (Q&P) treatments, one-step (quenching 420 °C) other two-step °C reheated 600 °C). results show that has marked effect on solidification process CP steel, refining austenitic grain size. Due its refinement, boron-containing had better throughout temperature range examined (700–900 °C), i.e., trough. Thus, minimum percentage reduction in area (%RA) value occurring at 800 was 43% for boron-free compared 58% steel. Hence, cracking would not be problem when straightening strand continuous casting. benefit addition room properties found very higher treatment, giving yield stress 1200 MPa, UTS (ultimate tensile strength) 1590 MPa total elongation above 11%. final Q&P microstructure, both one- conditions, consisted retained austenite (RA-γ), martensite ferrite islands bainitic matrix.
